How does your insurance company score for breastfeeding support?

The National Breastfeeding Center recently released a scorecard of healthcare insurance companies based on coverage policies for breastfeeding support. Research was conducted to see how the insurance industry is responding to the Patient Protection and Affordable Health Care Act (PPACA), specifically the part of the law concerning coverage of breastfeeding support, a provision which went into effect on August 1, 2012.

Among those who scored an “A” grade include Aetna and Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.

You can see how your insurance company rates by going to the National Breastfeeding Center’s website: http://www.nbfcenter.com/PayerScorecard.html or viewing this PDF http://www.nbfcenter.com/NBfC_Breastfeeding-Policy-Scorecard-09.2013.pdf.
